MOULIN DE BRIGNEMONT
The authentic and exceptional Brignemont windmill is listed as a "Monument Historique". It is open to visitors, but only on request. Enjoy the wooded grounds, and discover the ancestral method of milling wheat, still in use today.
This windmill was built in 1740 by Seigneur de Séguenville. Renovated in 1856 by "Favarol & Fils", the mill operated until 1926. Classified as a "Monument Historique" in 1991, it has been entirely restored by its current owner. Since 1996, thanks to its huge stone millstones, the mill crushes wheat and produces wholemeal flour just as it did in the past. After 70 years of dormancy, the windmill has been given a new lease of life, thanks to its new tourist and educational activities. Guided tours, lasting around 1 hour, will enable you to discover its history and restoration, and above all, its ancestral mechanism.
