MOSQUÉE DU MIRAIL (JOURNEES DU PATRIMOINE)
For the first time, discover the Mirail Mosque during European Heritage Days.
Accompanied by volunteers, follow a guided tour through the site’s various spaces: the library, prayer room, educational area, and garden.
The tour allows you to discover the building’s contemporary architecture, trace the history of its creation through a ten-panel exhibition, and better understand the role of a mosqueas a vibrant community space in the heart of the city. Beyond prayer, it hosts cultural, educational, and community outreach activities.
A section is also dedicated to raising awareness about responsible behavior and environmental conservation, in line with the mosque’s initiatives.
A two-part exhibition is presented here:
- The first section, “Mosques of the World,” features large-format photographs of the most beautiful and iconic mosques on the planet, ranging from the oldest masterpieces to contemporary structures.
- The second part, “The Ornamentation of Mosques,” highlights the art of decoration, calligraphy, and geometric patterns, as well as their regional variations around the world.
Presented along the exhibition route, this exhibition can be explored on your own or with a guide.
