HALLE & ARTS : EXPO DE PHOTOS
We are delighted to announce a new, free exhibition in the "Halle & Arts" area of your Hauts Tolosans Tourist Office, located just opposite the Halle Médiévale in Grenade-sur-Garonne.
This month, we are featuring a photography exhibition by Jean-Pierre ROUSSOULIÈRES, titled "Drifting Ice Giants." You can view these works from Saturday, August 1 through Saturday, August 29, 2026, during the Tourist Office’s regular hours of operation.
A few words from Jean-Pierre:
"I invite you to wander through the channels of the Antarctic Peninsula, from Melchior Island%at 66°1' South latitude, the Ukrainian Vernadsky Station, during the 2024 Antarctic summer.
Originally from Montauban, in Tarn-et-Garonne, I was born in 1952. I discovered photography at a very early age, alongside my family. My sensitivity to the play of light must be linked to this emotional resonance, which was later reinforced by my passionate discovery of the mountains, where numerous climbs led me to immerse myself in a luminosity attuned to the scale of a vast and ever-changing landscape. Numerous trips have further enriched this feeling: from the Galápagos to Peru, through Asia, to the vast sandy expanse of the Algerian Sahara, and most recently, Antarctica...
As a lighting technician and stage manager for the performing arts for over 38 years—now retired from professional life—I am very active in photography. Drawing on the experience I’ve gained—and driven by my spirit of discovery—I hope to continue exploring the world of photography, putting my passion at the service of creativity.
Throughout my career as a photographer, I have tackled many subjects, from still life to portraiture, from portraiture to the human body, from the human body to wildlife, from landscapes to travel, and more.
For many years, I developed my own slides and film, and printed my photographs in my own studio.%In this age of AI, I champion the art of photography more than ever. Today, I edit my digital photographs on a computer, adjust the color balance, and crop my prints, but I refuse to “tamper with” my images.%A0Nothing can replace the artist’s photograph, which is the result of an experience, a story, or an encounter.
