This event is organized by the livestock farmers of the Luchon region, with the aim of reaching both industry professionals and the general public and promoting transhumant livestock farming in Haute-Garonne. The Luchon Fair follows in the grand tradition of the fairs of yesteryear, with the goal of creating a highlight—a friendly occasion for exchange and sharing—for mountain livestock farmers and between producers and consumers.
A true annual gathering for pastoralism in Haute-Garonne, the Fair features livestock for sale that have come down from summer pastures (cattle, sheep, and horses).
This event is an opportunity for herders to meet and exchange ideas.
It also serves as an informative “showcase” for transhumant herding to the general public.
Throughout the day, a farmers’ market and various activities will be organized to showcase the different aspects of the profession, including demonstrations of herding dogs, sheep shearing, and animal exhibits.
The Luchon Fair is organized by the Haute-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture and the Luchon-area farmers, with support from the Luchon City Hall, the Community of Communes of the Pyrénées-Haute-Garonne, and the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council.
