DURAS-MITTERRAND, “ENTRETIENS” PAR LA CIE DE LA DAME
The Cie de la Dame presents *Duras-Mitterrand: Interviews* at Le Castelet. A rare encounter between literature and politics, in which two major voices of the 20th century reveal themselves in all their humanity.
Having stumbled upon Folio’s edition of the interviews between Marguerite Duras and François Mitterrand, Corinne Mariotto and Denis Rey wanted to bring the power of these texts to life on stage. After considering a staged production, they opted for a theatrical reading of the text alone, capturing the wit and hesitations of the dialogue, and above all, the unique chemistry between Duras and Mitterrand. They relied on a word-for-word transcript of the audio recording, which captures the overlapping speech, the laughter, and the depth of their reasoning.
