ESPACE DECOUVERTE DU LAURAGAIS
Discover the Pays Lauragais through its four emblematic themes: the Canal du Midi, the pastel, the wind and the treasures of the land. A playful and interactive exhibition accessible to the whole family to discover and learn while having fun!
Five discovery areas to explore and experience, open every day of the year:
- The Canal du Midi, a major part of the local heritage built by Pierre Paul Riquet in the 17th century, reveals all its secrets?
- Pastel, from harvesting to dyeing: find out all about this multi-purpose dye plant that made the Lauragais region, Pays de Cocagne in the 16th and 17th centuries, so rich
-The terroir: the hillsides of the Lauragais region are home to a rich agricultural heritage and ancestral know-how, and here you'll learn all about the secrets of cassoulet!
- Winds : Autan, Cers, Bordales? discover the winds that blow across our land of a thousand hills, the methods used to measure their force and the devices used to transform their energy
- A projection room to immerse yourself in our "little Tuscany" and the varied landscapes of Haute-Garonne.
A QR code on each element of the exhibition gives access to additional information in French, English and Spanish.
Guided tours (at an additional cost) for adult and school groups are available by appointment.
FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (please feel free to download the documents (site map, tour guide) in the "FILES" section):
- Reception is located in the Tourism area of the "Comptoir du Lauragais" store in the Port-Lauragais parking lot, 200 m from the Espace Découverte. Parking spaces are available 30 m from the store.
- The Espace Découverte (exhibition area) is 200 m away. A gentle slope provides access for wheelchair users.
- Guided tours in sign language are available on reservation.
- Adapted guided tours are available, by reservation, for people with cognitive impairments.
- A QR Code on each element of the exhibition links to a web page where you can consult information on the exhibition's themes.
- A soundtrack allows you to explore the different themes.
- A map of the Espace Découverte and a visitor guide are available on request from the "Comptoir du Lauragais" store reception desk.
- AN ADAPTED DOCUMENT (IN ENLARGED CHARACTERS AND/OR FALC) IS AVAILABLE AT THE RECEPTION DESK OF THE "COMPTOIR DU LAURAGAIS" STORE
(located in the parking lot, 200 m from the stairs).
