Global warming: Our two gîtes are through-ventilated North/South. The walls are 80 cm thick, not concrete but solid bricks known as "foraines", an insulating material with high inertia. As everywhere else in the south of France, in summer you have to close the windows during the day and leave them wide open at night (where we're located, there's no problem for the safety of people or property). It's the oldest air-conditioning system: through-air circulation. The roof over the balcony/terrace protects against direct sunlight. Trees and creepers planted along the walls also act as natural insulators. If you're careful, you'll stay within normal temperatures in very hot weather. We have a highly efficient colonial-style ceiling fan in the main room, and a column fan in the master bedroom. Finally, as tiger mosquitoes made their appearance this summer, we are going to install removable mosquito nets.
The park has been awarded the "Oasis Nature" and "refuge LPO" (Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux) labels
that most of the garden is maintained with a view to preserving biodiversity in all its forms
lawns, natural lawns (orchids), free-standing trees, hedges regularly pruned gently, fruit trees
maintained for natural, unforced production. The "wild" aspect will enable you to discover the flora and fauna
and even, with the presence of an adult for children, to observe the life of the pond.
If you're unfamiliar with the area, Violette will be delighted to help you plan your own itinerary.
Nearby: In the village (2 km), you'll find a bakery every evening: sourdough bread, organic and local flours, baked in a wood-fired oven
baked in a wood-fired oven, real bread like in the old days.
Every Thursday in the late afternoon, you'll find an organic and local farmers' market in the square (all food products, including a hairdresser)
and even a hairdresser). Summer: "Live Challenge" music festival. Visits to the "Paysages à croquer" orchards - City stadium, tennis, horse-riding (adults/children) nearby? extensive network of hiking trails.
